MY JOURNEY
I’m a writer, musician, and meditation teacher certified through Tibet House’s 100-Hour Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training. My approach is informed by over 30 years of personal practice and teaching, including studies in Dzogchen meditation and Mahamudra. I fuse meditation with creative self-expression to stimulate artistic and contemplative discovery. As the keynote speaker for Acacia Network’s Julio Martinez Memorial Fundraiser, I reported on the success of my Creative Presence Project® workshops for my recovery students.
My dedication to this work is deeply personal, rooted in my own healing journey as a Buddhist practitioner and teacher. I discovered that by uniting the quiet discipline of meditation with the expressive freedom of art, we can access a profound source of resilience and wisdom. This practice of "creative presence" is a powerful discipline for building a better life, pebble by pebble, through insight. It is the heart of my work—sharing the tools that have been transformative in my own life to empower others.
I’ve been privileged to design and implement healing arts programs for some of New York City’s most underserved communities in partnership with the NYC Department of Health, Bronx Council on the Arts, PEN America, and the Carter Burden Network. My work focuses on creating safe, supportive spaces for:
Recovering opioid users, offering tools to find calm and reduce instances of relapse.
Low-income and isolated senior citizens, using arts engagement to delay mental decline and foster connection.
Undocumented and LGBTQI youth, providing a platform for them to find their voice, enhance self-worth, and build social identity through creative self-expression.
In every workshop, I have witnessed firsthand how these practices lead to reduced stress, enhanced well-being, and a renewed focus on positive life experiences. This magic belongs to all of us, and it would be my honor to teach you what I’ve learned on this transcendent journey.
